    Move to In-House datacenter

We started KeyToSchool.com in year 2009. In these 3 years we have enjoyed serving you all.

At present due to high demand and load we are struggling with our system. Current architecture is failing to support such high demand and our budget does not allow us to add more power here.

It has been decided that we will move our system from US datacenter to our newly built in-house datacenter in Delhi, India. This move will allow us to add a lot more power and stability to KeyToSchool.com. Asian customers will see improvement in latency, latency will increase for US customers but improved performance will compensate it.

We will plan our new architecture to allow us to host a lot more Moodle sites, as we plan and build new system it will take time. We may start KeyToSchool.com again around March 2012.

From today, we will stop new registrations and from January 1, 2012 all Moodle sites will stop working. It is recommended that users of KeyToSchool.com move to some other hosting providers or move to KeyToMoodle.com.

We have created a special product for KTS customers and have offered our KTM1 plan with 50% discount. With this special plan, we will move your Moodle site to KeyToMoodle servers on January 1, 2012.

If you choose to move to some other hosting providers then you will need FTP access to transfer your files. More details about FTP is in our knowledge base. Additionally you will require database dump. You will find a file named backup_db.sql.gz in your FTP under httpdocs folder. This database dump will be updated regularly. More details about migration can be found on Moodle Docs.

We understand that this change will cause inconvenience to you but we hope you all will support us as we work to grow our services.

    UPDATE
    Backups are ready.
Go to https://www.keytoschool.com/member/backup.php to download your site backup.

    Hi, Jai

I understand the need for you all to move in this direction, and I'm grateful for KeyToSchool in the past.

Question: The "Special Product" you mention take me to an offer of still more than $200 per year, KTM1, even with your discount. We are very small, not more than 5 courses at a time. Couldn't we simply use the MoodleHub.com at $99 year? If so, would we need to start over, or would KeyToMoodle transfer things for us?

    Thanks,
    Tom B, in France

MoodleHub.com does not allow you to host your own Moodle site. You can create 5 course on Moodle Hub and allows only one teacher. No admin access will be provided, only one teacher's account will be provided.

MoodleHub.com is a single Moodle installation that is shared between multiple teachers.

It is necessary that you understand limitations of MoodleHub.com before you make an purchase.

As it is a shared Moodle installation so we can't just move your site from KTS to MoodleHub.com. You will have to use Moodle's backup/restore feature.

Given all the features (including backup) that you get with KTM plans this is the lowest price we can offer.

As someone asked me, 50% discount will be recurring and will be applied for every year.

It is not applicable or any other plan or product. Only KTM1 plan is discounted.

This discount is only valid for users of KeyToSchool who migrate to KeyToMoodle in 2011.

I understand and appreciate the need for the move, and I was expecting it to happen at some point; however, the timing and short notice is a problem. With only two months notice, my shell is set to stop working before the end of the current semester. Can there be some way to extend the life of my current courses through February?

I understand your reasons, and appreciate the discount offered.

    Questions:
    1) Will the URL stay the same, or will I have to have a new URL if I choose the KTM1 plan?
    2) Will I be able to migrate back to KTS in March after it's restored? Or is this a permanent/semipermanent move for me?

    Thanks for all you do!

    1) URL will change as both KTS and KTM system is completely isolated from each other but your old URL will automatically redirect to new URL.
    2) Yes, it will be possible to migrate back to KTS.

    Migrate from keyToSchool.com to KeyToMoodle.com

    Hi!
When trying to Migrate from keyToSchool.com to KeyToMoodle.com, the item Billing Cycle shows me:
    12 month price - $20.42 USD
Is this special product for KTS customers a 1 year price? or is $20.42 USD X 12 month?
    Regards.
